Dang right it is. I actually saw one of these the other day, they’re quite uncommon.

“Infiniti has a convertible but not Lexus.”
“Wrong.”
I’ve never seen one in person, but they remind me of Three Kings

My mother has one that has been sitting for about 7 years now. I had some glory days when I first had my license cruising around in that.

Sounds like you need to clean it up and either drive it or find a sucker to sell it to. They absolutely have a following, and they *are* RWD, if weenie a bit and autotragic. They’re like a snooty Japanese fox body.

I almost almost bought one of these. I opted for a Saab 900 instead

*checks pic* - hmm, plastic body cladding on a “rounded box” white car with red interior and blade style wheels from Japan, which is a convertible and posed at a neutral angle against a sunset or sunrise, with some grain in the picture from being a film camera. Okay, yeah, that’s full 90s. Apart from maybe some kind of swoosh decal on the car.

It was an SPG :)

If she ever sells it it’ll be when Japanese auto nostalgia hits another peak down the line. The platform is pretty interchangeable with many of Nissan’s other offerings so parts availability is pretty robust except for convertible top motors and the sonar system for the adjustable suspension also used select Maxima’s.
It needs an overhaul but at this exact moment it won’t happen.

This was the correct choice. Do you still have it? If so, sell it to me.

Saw one of these the other day. The roof bubbles up at speed.

I’ll put that down under “mostly negatives” then, shall I?

Nope. It got totaled in a hit-and-run two months after I bought it. I then bought a 900T to swap the parts over and make an SPG clone. I swapped the interior in its entirety, APC (slightly modded), Wheels, suspension, turbo, exhaust manifold (and other misc engine parts) and the exhaust - a 3" (IIRC) fully welded system from the downpipe back. It died when, during a vacuum / boost control test, I force-fed it more boost than its 350k mile engine could handle. Blew the (original) head gasket and the rings out of cyls 2 and 3. It’s currently sitting, engine partially disassembled.
I’ve realized that an SPG clone will never be my SPG. I am writing out a pricing list to part it out (I know there are SPGs out there that need replacement panels, interior components, wheels, etc) or I may sell it whole.

Nooooooo! I keep looking for decent SPGs, hell just a decent Turbo, to daily but they don’t exist. There was a clean gray SPG available for $3500 last year but I’d just bought another car and couldn’t do it at the time, bummed to have missed that one.

They are hard to come by, that’s for sure. I cried when mine was totaled. I so badly wanted to restore it. Then I so badly wanted to clone it. Now I just want to let its components live on vicariously in other vehicles so I can pick up this IROC I’ve been lusting over.
The SPG was one of my dream cars since I was a young’n; I rode in a brand new one back in 1988 and fell in love. Now I’ve owned it. It was exactly what I expected out of it. I’ll always love Saabs and will probably pick up a 95 or 96 someday.
BTW I paid $1100 for my SPG. Good / great examples should be around $4500. All mine needed when I bought it was fresh paint.
